While trying to get their lives back on track after the drowning of their four year-old-son, Bryn Shaw (Teri Polo) and her husband Paul (David Rees Snell) move to the charming old Beacon Apartments.
Bryn tries to befriends a mysterious boy she sees skulking around the building but is shocked to learn that the child actually died in a fall, down the Beacon’s elevator shaft, while trying to escape his abusive father. Paul believes the boy is less a ghost than a manifestation of Bryn’s grief. Emotionally exhausted by his own pain, Paul finds himself struggling to be both supportive and realistic.
Bryn obsessively seeks to uncover the details of the boy’s death and his reasons for haunting the Beacon. She hopes that freeing the boy will allow him to carry a message to her own son. As her quest begins to consume her, she fails to notice that her marriage is beginning to fray or that her beautiful neighbour Vanessa is making moves on Paul.
Bryn comes up with a plan to save the boy’s spirit, only to realise, too late, that there is another entity stalking the halls of the Beacon. One that doesn’t want the boy set free…
