The highest grossing domestic film in Brazil of all-time, this wonderful drama tells the story of Francisco, a poor tenant farmer in the hinterland of Goias, pursues what appears to be an impossible dream, to turn two of his nine children into a famous music duo. Living in a mud-and-wattle shack in the middle of nowhere, hours from the nearest village, Francisco spares no effort in his quest. After putting his reluctant boys through gruelling musical training Francisco decides to move to the big city where he can give his sons a better future. But things do not turn out as he planned when a sleazy agent turns up at his door and offers to take the boys on tour.
The film received numerous prizes in festivals around the world and was Brazil's official entry for the Academy Awards.
